Blizzard have been working hard to give World of Warcraft players a lot of options for getting their ‘WoW’ fix outside of the actual game. We first had the armory introduced to the website which now boasts full character and equipment stats, talent specs and even a 3d character viewer. Shorty after the success Blizzard had with the armory we then saw the armory come over to the iphone for more portability and then the ‘fishing buddy’ app for the iphone which actually let you level up your characters in-game fishing skill on the go from your iphone.

Blizzard look to continue making use of the iphone with the announcement of the new auction system for the iphone. The full details have not been released as of yet but it has been mentioned in a recent interview that rather than a standalone app the auction system may be incorporated into the existing armory app and there is a possibility that some features will be ‘premium’, whether that means it will be a standalone ‘paid’ app or an addition to the armory app with a recurring charge hasn’t been clarified.
