In Galactic Battleground, people will lead armies consisting of the Galactic Empire, the Rebel Alliance, the Trade Federation, the Gungans and two other races in campaigns that will determine the outcome of a galactic civil war. Solo users will be able to execute their battle plans over land, sea and air using more than 300 units; battles will also be supported across a local area connection and the Internet.

Some of the combat arenas will include interstellar asteroids, aerial encounters, ground battles and submerged cities; filling these battlegrounds will be up to 200 units per side, including Jedi Knights, stormtroopers, snowspeeders, AT-ATs, AT-STs, droids and more. Further, each side will feature upgradable technologies or powers, such as Gungan biotechnologies and Jedi stamina. In a first for LucasArts, a scenario editor will be included that will allow fans to create additional battlegrounds.
